KITEAID is improving strut and leading edge repair

We are working on a new product for improving strut and leading edge repair here at KITEAID. We will be adding this product to our Sail Repair Kit and Day Saver Kit once it is ready.

Currently we are using our sail repair material for strut and leading edge repair as you can in the Leading Edge Strut Repair video. This has been working fine, but because the sail repair patch was designed for the kite’s canopy, it has different elongation properties than the strut material. Because of this, we currently have to do a patch on both sides of the strut. This is extra work and complicates the application of the repair.

We are developing a repair patch that more closely matches the properties of the strut and leading edge material so the repair can be done with a single patch. This will reduce the amount of time it takes to repair a strut as well as improve the look of the repair because you will be able to repair the inside of the strut and you will not be able to see the repair at all.

We are excited about this new repair product and are looking forward to launching it. We still have a bunch of testing to do, but the development is coming along well.
